I leave for Tulum, Mexico in a few days, so I'm packing away. Yes, I pack ahead of time, I can't do last minute, I'd be a mess. Part of planning ahead is also packing healthy snacks to take with me on my trip. I can't stress enough how important it is to always be prepared. It will make eating healthy (whatever the situation) that much easier. The healthy snacks I'm packing?
•Macro bars- These are my absolute favorite, especially the granola + coconut flavor, they have under 10 ingredients, and taste like a coconut oatmeal cookie and leave me satisfied for hours. These are my #1 go to travel food.
•Raw crunch bars- Also another one of my favorite "bars", raw honey makes them sweet and they pack on protein and fiber from the nuts and seeds.
•Somersaults- Not a normal snack I would eat on the regular, but these are great for vacationing. They are the perfect amount of crunch and salt. These "nuggets" are baked with sunflower seeds and toasted grains and have 6g of protein.
•Gone Nuts!- This brand carries an assortment of delish nut and seed combinations in creative flavors. Packing the Spicy Chipotle pistachios and pumpkin seeds mix. These will offer satisfaction and energy on my trip.
•PB packets- These are perfect to have with a banana (which I'll get while I am out there) in the morning to start my day off right.
•Raw Maca Chocolate from Lulu's chocolate- Perfect, if I get a sweet craving while I am out there. Maca increases vitality and balances hormones and adrenals.
•While I'm out there, I'll get fresh fruit from the local market to snack on throughout the days.
These items will help me to have something healthy right when I wake and to snack on during the day. As for the rest of the time, even on Vacay one can always make healthy choices. But will I splurge on a few meals (and probably drinks) while I'm out there? Of course! It's all about balance, so if I'm going to splurge at dinner, for example, I'll make sure to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch along with some of my packed snacks and when I do have that dinner...I will enjoy every bite and not feel guilty. You should never beat yourself up over enjoying a delicious meal. Eat it, and move on...Keeping with your normal routine (or close to it) while vacationing makes it so much easier to come back from vacation and get right back to it. I'll also make sure to stay active out there by running on the beach, hiking, surfing and maybe even kayaking. Get creative and have fun on vacation, but just remember to pack your healthy lifestyle with you!
