Whether you are single or in a relationship, Valentine's Day should be a day everyone celebrates LOVE. There are all forms of love, and let's admit it, what would LIFE be without the L word? I think John Lennon said it best, "It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love, it matters only that you LOVE." So this V-day, regardless of your "Relationship status" I encourage you to practice SELF-LOVE. With our busy lives, we too often forget to stop to appreciate and love our own bodies and everything they do for us. So if you don't have Valentine's plans, NOW you do and this is how they will go:
Choose 1-3 of the Self-Love Practices to focus on come the 14th of February ,and then indulge in some healthy Red Velvet Bliss Balls (recipe below) paired with a glass of organic Natura Wine (details below)- You are bound to fall in love with Valentine's Day (and yourself)...You can thank me later;-)
-Wake-up and give yourself 3 compliments, starting each compliment off by saying, "I love..." (For example: "I love...my smile", "I love...how dedicated I am to my health", and so on). You can even write down the 3 compliments and carry around the paper with you to look at throughout the day.
-Participate in a yoga class to spend time tuning into and connecting with your own body and letting go of the outside world.
-Replace every negative thought you start to have with a positive one instead, notice how much happier you are by the end of the day!
-Write down 5 things you are grateful for and look at the paper throughout the day.
-Schedule a 30-60 minute massage for yourself (Couple's Massages are so last year! Wink wink.)
-Buy yourself your favorite flowers, there is no need to wait for someone else to do it for you!
-Wake up and meditate for 5-10 minutes before you start your day.
-Take a bubble bath with sea salt scrub, candles, and relaxing music.
-Find a comfy spot and read a book you have been saying you want to start/finish.
-Get rid of any junk food in your house and then go grocery shopping to restock it with nourishing foods. Nothing says you love yourself like feeding your body the healthiest foods possible!
Red Velvet Bliss Balls:
- 10-12 Medjool dates, pitted
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut shreds
- 4 tablespoons beet juice
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1/4 cup coconut butter
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 packet of stevia
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Add all ingredients to a food processor, and mix until a dough forms. Roll the dough into small balls and put in the fridge for 30 minutes. Then prepare the icing by mixing ingredients in a bowl and warming on the stove until melted- stir as needed. Pour the "icing" on the balls and put back in the fridge for another 30 minutes before serving and pair with a glass of organic Natura Wine.
A little about Natura Wine:
Speaking of LOVE, I've fallen in love with these organic wines since I've become more conscious of eating (and drinking) organic. Did you know grapes can be found on the Dirty Dozen list of foods you should always buy organic because of the amount of pesticides found on them? So whether you like to eat or sip your grapes, organic is the way to go! Natura's Cabernet Sauvignon wine is especially tasty and pairs insanely well with my Red Velvet Bliss Balls recipe. Not to mention they are the #1 imported organic wine and Natura's vineyards are 100% chemical free- That means NO pesticides, fertilizer, or herbicide. WOOHOO! They're also vegan-friendly and certified organic by IMO. And an added bonus? Natura Wines are cost-friendly, retailing for about $10 per bottle.
I hope you all enjoy YOUR day of Self-Love and wake up on the 15th with a new perspective about Valentine's Day. Choose LOVE everyday and don't forget to love yourself, you are AMAZING!
Note: Over-consuming alcohol can increase your risk of liver damage, high blood pressure, obesity, certain cancers, and impair judgement, etc. Do not drink if you are under the age of 21, and never drink and drive.
