On my latest vacation in Tulum, Mexico (a beautiful place that I would love to return to one day), I found myself doing things that gave me BALANCE each day, and along with that, provided me with personal satisfaction throughout my whole trip. I was proud of how well I was able to bring my usual healthy eating and exercise routine with me on vacation without much thought or struggle. This made me realize how important it is to first, find what balances you in life, and then to make sure you incorporate your own balance(s) in your daily routine. By incorporating your balances you will find that you feel more fulfilled with happiness and are also reducing stress in your body. Life can always be hectic and ever-changing, that's why bringing balance in each day, no matter what may be going on in your world, is so crucial. So how did I bring my balances with me on vacation?
First, I set my alarm each morning, so I would have time to workout in and outside (as shown in the picture) of my hotel room. I also incorporated some yoga poses and breathing exercises to start each vacay-day off right. I Yelped juice places to make sure I would not be missing out on my morning greens and nutrients. I found this AMAZING raw food/smoothie joint called Raw Love that I frequented almost every morning- I'd run there and back from my hotel (about a mile round-trip, which also provided me with extra balance). From the menu, I got a tropical, green smoothie bowl that was heavenly, and the next day a green smoothie that was good for digestion, and also a maca, cacao smoothie. These healthy delights, combined with my morning workouts really brought me BALANCE. I feel so much better after I workout, and love discovering and trying new, healthy foods, and also starting my day off HEALTHY! After my morning, vacay-ritual I was left feeling ready to conquer the day, and open to whatever the day brought because my own balances (staying active and being healthy) were met.
The moral of this little story? Identify what makes you feel most balanced in your daily/weekly life- Is it running? Hiking? Green smoothies? Meditation? Reading? Whatever your balances, be sure to MAKE time for them each and every day, especially when you are put out of your normal routine or environment. It may take more planning, but it is always do-able and SO worth it. It is VERY important that we always make time for what we, as individuals, can do to put a smile on our own face and to be able to gift ourselves with what provides us with ULTIMATE BALANCE in our daily lives.
